ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar will travel to Kuwait on a day-long visit on Monday to offer condolences on the demise of its ruler, Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, who was laid to rest on Sunday. The late Kuwaiti emir passed away at the age of 86 a day earlier. His casket was draped in his country’s national flag, with members of the Al-Sabah family and several high-profile officials attending his funeral. Several foreign dignitaries are expected to travel to the Arab country in the coming days to express condolences. The two countries agreed to broaden and deepen their relationship by specifically focusing on areas related to manpower, information technology, mineral exploration, food security, energy and defense. The late Kuwaiti ruler was named crown prince in 2006 by his half-brother Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah and took over as emir in September 2020.His country announced official mourning for 40 days and the closure of official departments for three days after the announcement of his death on Saturday.
